[Menditations on the Education System]
Public knitting performance intiating conversation about education
Description
The performances take place in various ad hoc public environments. They consist of the artist [Mark Rautenbach] taking a collection of education documents (a big pile of paper/mark sheets, notes etc), stitching them on a sewing machine, tearing them into long lengths and developing a balls of “yarn”. These are then knitted on knitting needles developing a flexible, textured fabric which spreads and grows.
Its aim is to develop public interest, awareness, conversation, involvement and opinion about the state of education.
